OWERRI — Orji Autonomous Community in Urrata Clan, Owerri North LGA of Imo State, joined other Urrata communities to celebrate the annual Onwa Oru Urrata cultural festival on Tuesday February 11 at Orie Urrata Square.

Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Orji Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Dr. Innocent Opar,  Ezeugo II, the Oshimiri II of Orji, emphasized the importance of peace and unity among the people. He urged members of the community to support one another for collective growth and development.

He described Onwa Oru as a significant cultural tradition, adding  that the festival serves as a time of thanksgiving to God for past harvests and a moment to seek blessings for the upcoming farming season. He noted that the festival symbolizes peace and unity, discouraging conflicts and discord among the people.

Eze Opara  encouraged Orji residents to remain law-abiding and to foster a spirit of brotherhood. He advised against divisive tendencies in politics and leadership, calling on everyone to embrace love and unity in the spirit of the celebration.

The event was marked with pomp and pageantry, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Urrata Clan.

It also featured lots of cultural activities, dances performance, parades and others to the delights of attendees.

The occasion was graced by  dignitaries, sons and daughters of Urrata both home and abroad, political appointees and a host of others.
